My favorite science experience is being outdoors with students exploring the weird and wonderful things we find in nature. Sometimes that is seeing a young person hold their first bird while helping with a bird-banding project. Other times it’s the excitement of a student finding a cool caterpillar on a plant in a nearby meadow during a class field trip. Even the indoors work of looking at the data we have collected, like the photos of animals collected with motion-sensing cameras, can be exciting. It’s always more fun for me when I’m doing [the work] with students.
