FACTivity – Can We Grow Now?
You will answer the following questions in the FACTivity: What are the ways different seeds move away from the parent plant? What are the characteristics that enable seeds to travel from the parent plant?
An extension FACTivity is also included where you will design a wind-dispersed mechanism to disperse a seed and see which seed can travel the farthest.
Materials:
- Variety of seeds (collected from outdoors or from fruits)
- Magnifying glasses or microscopes
- Rulers
- Blank paper
- Pencil
Materials for the extension:
- Fan
- One small dry bean or see (per student)
- Paper
- Scissors
- Masking tape
- Glue
- Tape measure
