regulate

(re gyə lāt): (1) To control according to a system; (2) To bring under control of law or some authority.

(re gyǝ shǝn): The act or state of bringing order, method, or uniformity to something.

relationship

(ri shǝn ship): The state of being connected through a relation that is known or can be discovered.

relative humidity

(re lǝ tiv hyü mi dǝ tē): The ratio of the amount of water vapor actually present in the air to the greatest amount possible at the same temperature.

reliable

(ri ə bəl): Dependable.

remote

(ri mōt): (1) Far removed in place, time, or relation; (2) secluded.

(ri mōt): Far away from other people, houses, cities, etc.

remoteness

(ri mōt nǝs): The state of being out of the way or secluded.

renewable

(ri ǝ bǝl): Capable of being replaced by natural ecological cycles or sound management practices.

repellent

(ri pe lənt): (noun) A substance that drives something (such as insects) away.

replicate

(re plǝ kǝt): (noun) One of several identical experiments, procedures, or samples.

represent

(re pri zent): To serve as a specimen, example, or instance of.

representation

(re pri zen shǝn): One (like a picture or symbol) that represents something else.

representative

(re pri zen tə tiv): A member of the house of representatives of the U.S. Congress or a state legislature.

reproduce

(rē prǝ düs): To produce new individuals of the same kind.

reservation

(re zǝr shǝn): An area of land set aside by the government for an American Indian tribe.

reservoir

(re zǝ vwär): An artificial lake where water is collected and kept in quantity for use.

residential

(re zə den(t)-shəl): Restricted to or occupied by residences (homes).

resilience

(ri zil yən(t)s): An ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change.
