(in fǝr tǝl): Not fertile or productive.

infest

(in fest): To spread or swarm in or over in a troublesome manner.

infestation

(in fǝ stā shǝn): The presence of organisms that spread or swarm in or over an area in a troublesome manner.

influence

(in flü ǝn(t)s): To affect something.

inhabitant

(in ha bə tənt): One that occupies a particular place regularly, routinely, or for a period of time.

(in stəs): An unjust or unfair act.

innate

(i nāt): Existing in an individual from birth.

inoculation

(in äk yǝ shǝn): The act or an instance of inoculating, which is introducing material (as a vaccine) into a body or living thing to protect against or treat a disease.

insectivore

(in sek tə vȯr): An organism that feeds mainly on insects.

insight

(in sīt): The power or act of seeing into or understanding a situation.

insloping

(in slōp iŋ): Hillside road surface that slopes down and in the direction of the uphill slope.

instrument

(in(t) strə mənt): A measuring device for determining the present value of a quantity under observation.

insufficient

(in(t)fi shənt): Not sufficient; not enough.

insulate

(in(t) sə lāt): To separate from conducting bodies by means of nonconductors so as to prevent transfer of electricity, heat, or sound.

intact

(in takt): Not broken or damaged.

integral

(in ti grəl or in te grəl): (1) Needed for completeness; (2) lacking nothing essential.

intense

(in tens): Very strong or great.

intensity

(in ten(t) sǝ tē): The degree or amount of a quality or condition, like the strength of a fire.
