extract
(ik strakt): To pull or take out with force.
extraction
(ek strak shun): The act of extracting or pulling out by effort.
exudation
(ek s(y)ü dā shǝn): The process of exuding, or oozing out.

facility
(fə si lə tē): Something (such as a hospital) that is built, installed, or established to serve a particular purpose.
fatal
(fā təl): Causing death.
fauna
(fȯ nə): Animal life, especially the animals characteristic of a region, period, or special environment.
federal
(fed (ə) rəl): Of or being a form of government in which power is distributed between a central authority and individual units.
Federal Species of Concern
(fe d(ə-)rəl spē sēz əv kən sərn): Species which might need special help. Species of concern do not receive legal protection.
feedback
(fēd bak): The giving or sending of information, or of something from which information can be obtained, about the value, effect, or result of an action or process to the controlling source.

(fǝr tǝ lǝ zā shǝn): The joining of an egg cell and a sperm cell (pollen in a plant) to form the first stage of an embryo (a seed in a plant).

(fib ür glas): Glass in a fiber form used for making products, such as insulation.

(fik shən): (1) Something told or written that is not fact; (2) a made-up story.
fictional
(fik shǝ nǝl): (1) Characterized by the imagination; (2) made up.
filament
(fi lə mənt): A single thread or a thin flexible threadlike object.
financial
(fə nan(t) shəl): Relating to money or other liquid resources of a government, business, group, or individual.
fine root
(fīn rūt): A small, hair-like root growing out of a plant’s coarse roots.
firebrand
(fī(ǝ)r brand): A piece of burning wood.
fish ladder
(fish la dǝr): A series of pools arranged like steps by which fish can pass over a dam in going upstream.
fisheries
(fi shə rēz): Places for catching fish or other sea animals.
