Woodsy Owl, Nature Educator (K-2)

I teach people to learn, enjoy, and care about our lands. I want people to explore nature. Nature is everywhere! Find it in a forest. Find it in a park. Nature is right outside your home!

Safety first! Bring these things to explore outside:

• Sunblock
• Water
• Hat
• Hiking shoes
• Map
• Whistle
• Phone
• Sunglasses

Also remember to:

• Hike with a buddy.
• Stay on the trail.
• Don’t pollute! Do not leave trash.
• Learn from nature! Natural Inquirer Readers can teach you about nature!

My favorite sentence is “Give a Hoot – Don’t Pollute!” I want people to recycle, reuse, reduce, and rot (compost). I also say, “Lend a Hand – Care for the Land!” Lend a hand to help your friends. Care for your homes and parks. Make a garden and share the food. Look for plants and animals who live near you. These are ways we can lend a hand and care for the land.

I love meeting and working with kids! I teach them to find nature anywhere: in a forest, a park, or their own yard. Those places need us to keep them healthy and safe. Then those lands can help keep us healthy and safe, too!

I grew up in the forest. I love the plants and animals that live there. I learned natural areas can be huge, like national forests and grasslands. They can also be small, like the trees in your backyard. All forests and natural areas are important, so I want to make sure everyone knows to “Give a Hoot – Don’t Pollute!” and “Lend a Hand – Care for the Land!”
