Molly Booth, Assistant Center Manager & Intelligence Coordinator

My primary duty is to serve as the assistant center manager for Payette Interagency Dispatch Center. In this capacity, I help with the coordination and operations of wildland fire resources to help with prescribed fire, fire suppression, aircraft operations, and fire management.

Organizational skills in order to keep data consistent and relevant to make educated fire business decisions. Being a lifelong student! The field of intelligence has allowed me to learn a ton about being a weather observer, gauging critical fuels status, and tracking trends in how they influence fire behavior.

Trying to predict the weather! The weather has a huge influence on fire behavior and our planning for potential fire starts.

We have a multichannel radio system for talking to firefighters across the forest. We have access to an immense amount of fire, weather, and fuels data and are able to communicate a lot of information to a lot of people in an efficient manner.

I used to be a wildland firefighter and enjoyed my time on the line with my crew, working long days and seeing new, beautiful parts of the country. My time as a firefighter has allowed me to be a knowledgeable dispatcher and understand the importance of my job in Intelligence.

I just graduated college and volunteered as a naturalist for AmeriCorps. They assisted the State with prescribed fire during the spring and fall and gave me my preliminary training. I was hooked!
