My favorite science experience was when I was collecting a tissue/DNA sample from a dead whale floating off the coast of Hawai‘i so that we could try and identify what species it was. I had to collect the sample with a pocket knife by hanging off the side of a tiny boat while about 10 of Hawai‘i’s most dangerous sharks swam underneath me eating the whale. This experience was super scary, but also very fun!
