Summer is in full swing with lots of events and activities. Check out this quick overview of some summer highlights!

National Pollinator Week

This week is National Pollinator Week (June 16-25, 2025).

Try out some fun pollination activities like simulating pollination with snack food or designing your own native pollinator garden. Post a sign in your yard to let your neighbors know you’re taking a break from mowing to help support pollinators. Read more about research into how prescribed fire impacts pollinators. Learn about other pollinators, like bats and butterflies!

National Grasslands Week

This week is ALSO National Grasslands Week (June 15 – 21, 2025).

This week is designated to recognize the importance of grasslands. Learn more about research on these grasslands, like how they respond to fire. Meet the prairie dog and learn more about this keystone species. Find out about the tallgrass prairies and how they’ve changed over time.

Summer is a great time for outdoor recreation! And being outdoors is a great way to explore natural resource science. Make observations about insects or animal tracks. Measure leaves and take soil samples. Construct your own model beaver dam or investigate the effects of erosion. Record how being outdoors affects your sense of well-being.
