When I was a senior in high school, we took a biology field trip to a saltwater marsh on the coast of Virginia. As part of this trip, we walked through the marsh in mud up to our knees, but this was really cool because we got to see up close all of the plants and animals that lived there, like little crabs that rushed around in front of us like kids running around here and there on a playground. This was one of the first times I realized that all of nature (including mud!) has interesting and fun things in it that are important to all of us. Now I spend a lot of time in all kinds of natural places and continue to be amazed by the beauty and wonder of our natural world!
