People across the nation will join “Together for Tomorrow” on September 28 for National Public Lands Day.
Maybe a special birthday (looking at you, Woodsy Owl) will be inspiring them to “Lend a Hand and Care for the Land.”
How do we celebrate? By coming together to help care for our public lands! According to the National Environmental Education Foundation, who coordinates the event, it’s the “nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands.”
National Public Lands Day
Learn more about National Public Lands Day, its impact over the years, and ways you can get involved.
Volunteers show up at their national and state forests, parks, grasslands, reserves, and other public lands to maintain trails, plant trees, clear trash from waterways and riverbanks, perform much-needed maintenance, and enjoy being together outdoors in these public spaces.
You might say these volunteers come to “Lend a Hand and Care for the Land!” That’s one of Woodsy Owl’s favorite slogans, right up there with “Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute!”
September is a special month for Woodsy Owl, too. September 15 is Woodsy Owl’s Birthday! Happy 54th Birthday, Woodsy Owl!
