Shawn Lacina, Supervisory Contract Specialist & Zone Chief
B.S., Cardinal Stritch University

As a supervisory contract specialist and zone chief, I am part of a leadership team that oversees all contracts for supplies, services, construction, and architect and engineering services for Region 8, Region 9, and research stations within these areas.
I believe that my experience and abilities to consider other perspectives and think strategically have allowed me to be effective.
Implementing new policies can be challenging because of how they impact a number of customers who have different priorities. Finding the best solution by considering all perspectives can be rewarding.
In my 25 years as a Government employee, technology has changed A LOT! Now the only equipment I need to perform my job is a laptop, a second monitor, a mouse, and a keyboard. Within that, there are a lot of programs, systems, and software that we use to be completely electronic.
As an operational contracting officer, I really enjoy construction projects that benefit the public and improve access to recreational opportunities. As a zone chief, I get excited when we’re able to make decisions to improve the work/life environment for our team.
When I saw how my work made a direct impact on the mission, fellow employees, and the public.
